About Pnyx

Why “Pnyx”?

The Pnyx (PNIKS) was a hill in ancient Athens — the world’s first purpose-built democratic assembly space. Citizens gathered there not to watch leaders perform, but to speak, debate, and vote. The hill was the platform; the people were the power.

We chose this name deliberately. The Liana Banyan Platform is not a marketplace with a suggestion box. It is a cooperative where Members hold real governance authority. The Pnyx is where that authority is exercised.

Cooperative-Class Governance

Pnyx operates on cooperative-class principles:

  • One Member, One Voice — no weighted votes based on spending or tenure
  • Canonical receipts — every deliberation and decision is logged to the substrate
  • Transparent tallies — all vote counts are public and auditable
  • Standing for all — any current Member may participate

What Pnyx Is Not

Pnyx is not a forum. It is not a Discord server. It is not a customer feedback portal.

Pnyx is the formal deliberative body of the cooperative. Decisions made here have weight. They are recorded. They inform platform development, policy, and resource allocation.

Relationship to the Platform

The Pnyx interfaces with:

  • Rally Group — community organizing and mobilization
  • Brass Tacks — foundational labor and economic infrastructure
  • Power to the People — civic participation and democratic tools

“The Pnyx was the world’s first democratic platform. We built the second.”
