The Liana Banyan Name Origin

— Childhood — book memory

Master Registry #11 | Brand Story, Mission, Origin

Setting: Childhood memory of a book

“One of my earliest memories is of having a book read to me about a kingdom in the sea — underneath the water level but open to the sky. In the story, this was made possible by mangroves, or banyan, whose roots interlocked so tightly as to keep out the ocean, even while the entire island was essentially in a large depression made possible by the surrounding wall of trees.

A magical kingdom held together by trees. Protected by interconnection.”

Etymology:

  • Liana: A climbing vine that leans on other plants for support as it climbs upward
  • Banyan: From Sanskrit via Gujarati, originally meaning “man of the trading caste” — the word has ALWAYS meant commerce and merchants gathering

Key Lesson: One tree becomes a forest. Interconnection creates protection.
