The Story
The ideas behind Liana Banyan date back to 1975, in Africa, where a child read a book about an underwater kingdom protected by interlocking mangrove roots. That image—a magical kingdom held together by trees—became the organizing metaphor for everything that followed.
The company was formally founded in 2015 and has been in active development for over 9 years.
The 15-Year Economic Evolution
The platform economics are not a recent invention. They evolved over fifteen years of documented development.
The Origin: Pizza for Ice Cream (2010)
While working as assistant manager at a pizza chain, the founder understood that food cost was approximately 10% of the retail price. He called the Dairy Queen manager across the parking lot and proposed a direct exchange: pizzas for ice cream. Both costs were pennies on the dollar, but the savings to each party were significant.
This became the kernel insight: Margin exchange between businesses creates value without extracting from workers or customers.
Localcy Currency Exchange Credits (2011)
This insight was formalized in the LCEC system—documented in files with preserved November 2011 metadata:
- LCEC Credits → Became Platform Credits/Marks
- CESN Networks → Became Keeps / Guild Towers / Cities
- 10% Exchange Rate → Became Cost + 20% Model
- Local Merchants → Became Global Creators
- Non-convertible credits → Became Medallion blockchain tokens
- Employee discounts → Became Creator value retention (83.3%)

The same insight, globally scaled. Creators keep 83.3% of revenue. The platform margin is locked in the operating agreement—it cannot be changed because it’s infrastructure, not a business model to optimize.

The Founder
Denken is the pseudonym of the founder, chosen to protect family privacy while maintaining transparency about the platform’s vision and values.
The name comes from the German word for “to think” - reflecting the decades of thought that went into the platform’s design.
